Muriel's 98th Birthday BashWhat an amazing day its has been today. Muriel turned 98 and looked wonderful in her new outfit , painted nails and freshly cut hair. It has been a birthday to remember.
The Manor looked great decorated with handmade bunting, woollen hearts and a great display of pictures depicting Muriel's life from birth to the present day. This set the atmosphere for today.
The children from St James the Less arrived at 1.30 pm to kick start the party with a variety of songs from WW2 that they are currently studying, they sound great and looked really happy to be at the Manor again and helping celebrate Muriel's Birthday.
Three of the Yr 6 girls did their Irish Dancing routines to perfection and Muriel loved that and remember as a girl dancing to the music.
Peter who always plays the accordion for us on a monthly basis did us proud again with music from the Last Night of the Proms and also playing music that the children knew and could join in with.
There was plenty of singing, dancing and everyone enjoying this great occasion.
Residents and children enjoyed ice cream cones with sprinkles and strawberry sauce.
The children departed in time to get back for the end of school but 6 close friends of Muriel's had arrived to also enjoy the singing and also make the day even more special.
Potato pie was served with lashings of beetroot, red cabbage and pickles and this went down a treat by all.
A lovely birthday cake had been made and Muriel had no problems blowing out the champagne candle not once but twice!!! Everyone enjoyed a slice too.
The staff really helped everything go with a bang and Muriel was spoilt rotten all day (everyday!!).
Thank you to St James the Less Yr 6 and staff, friends of Muriel's and all staff for making this such a special day.
